Immersive Safety Learning Through Challenges! Lin’an “Fire-Electricity Collaboration” Brings Campus Fire Safety Lessons to Life
On November 6, the Lin’an District Fire and Rescue Brigade partnered with State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company to conduct a “campus fire safety lesson” for teachers and students at the Qingshanhu Campus of Hangzhou No. 14 High School. Through immersive experiences, fun interactions, and professional science education integrated into the promotional month activities, students gained safety knowledge through hands-on practice and enhanced their emergency response skills through active participation. The “fire-electricity collaboration” has jointly strengthened the campus safety defense line.
This November marks the 34th National Fire Safety Day, with the theme “Fire Safety for All, Life First—Safe Use of Fire and Electricity.” The event featured three specially designed activity zones, transforming abstract fire and electricity safety knowledge into tangible, learnable, and actionable content. In front of the inflatable “fire escape experience hut”, students lined up in an orderly manner to enter. In a dim, simulated low-oxygen environment, they navigated obstacles by following key instructions such as “bend down, cover your nose, stick close to the wall, and move quickly”, gaining firsthand experience of a real fire scenario. “The escape activity left a deep impression on me. It was more engaging than traditional drills and made me truly understand the importance of mastering fire safety knowledge,” said student Qiu Yanning after the experience.

The fun interaction zone was particularly popular. In the “Safety Code Lock” interactive Q&A session, the “Safety Promotion Team” designed layered and progressive questions: basic questions focused on high-frequency campus scenarios like “Which electrical appliances are prohibited in dormitories?” and “How many devices can a power strip support at most?”; advanced questions combined real-life cases, asking “How to evacuate properly during an electrical fire?” and “What is the function of an intelligent leakage protector?” Students gathered around the code lock prop, eagerly answering questions to unlock puzzles. Successful participants won customized gifts such as “Electricity and Fire Safety Guardian” figurines and safety mantra canvas bags. Simultaneously, the “Spot the Difference” observation challenge allowed students to identify fire and electricity hazards in pictures of homes and campuses, deepening their knowledge through speed competitions.
During the professional science education segment, staff from the power supply company and fire rescue personnel worked together in a coordinated and targeted manner. Young volunteers from the power supply company focused on electricity scenarios encountered daily by teachers and students, explaining potential risks associated with mobile phone charging, power bank usage, and household appliance operation. They taught everyone how to quickly identify hazards like faulty wires and expired sockets, which are “safety killers”.
This campus event is a vivid example of the deepening “fire-electricity collaboration” between the two organizations. Previously, the Lin’an District Fire and Rescue Brigade and State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company established principles of “complementary advantages, resource sharing, mutual benefit, and common development”, building a comprehensive and regular government-enterprise coordination mechanism. Since the collaboration began, the two parties have jointly conducted fire safety risk assessments in key areas such as energy storage power stations and industrial parks. They have also addressed public concerns like aging electrical wiring and unauthorized connections in old residential areas, promoting upgrades and effectively improving regional fire safety governance.
“The core of this event is to instill the fire safety awareness of ‘prevention first, life first’ and enhance teachers’ and students’ abilities in initial fire suppression and self-rescue,” said Wu Xiaolong, Head of the Qingshanhu Fire and Rescue Station under the Lin’an District Fire and Rescue Brigade.

Moving forward, the two organizations will use this Fire Safety Promotion Month as an opportunity to further deepen the “fire-electricity collaboration” model, advance the three-year campaign for tackling root causes, and expand the scope and depth of cooperation. They plan to carry out a series of promotional activities in communities, enterprises, and rural areas. Through joint emergency drills, collaborative hazard inspections, and safety knowledge seminars, they aim to make fire and electricity safety knowledge more accessible, continuously raise public awareness of fire safety, and enhance emergency response capabilities, thereby building a stronger safety barrier for the high-quality development of Lin’an District.
