Zhengzhou, Henan: Countdown to New School Year – Busy with Electricity Inspections for Quality & Efficiency Enhancement

You can rest assured about electricity use in the new semester!” On the morning of August 26, at Gongyi No. 2 Primary School, Wang Panfeng, a staff member from State Grid Gongyi Power Supply Company, held an infrared thermometer to inspect the equipment in the power distribution room while reporting the inspection results to the school administrator. As the new school year approaches the countdown, the company has launched comprehensive electricity safety “check-ups” tailored to the electricity needs of schools within its jurisdiction, making every effort to ensure safe and reliable electricity use for teachers and students after the semester starts.

In the teaching area, team members opened the distribution boxes in each classroom one by one, carefully inspected the trip test function of residual current devices, and checked for loose or overheating wire connections. For issues such as a few loose sockets and poor lamp contact identified during the inspection, they carried out on-site repairs and replacements, promptly eliminating potential safety hazards. In the cafeteria, the focus was on checking whether the insulation layers on power supply lines for high-power kitchen equipment were intact, ensuring safe electricity use in the cafeteria after the semester begins. In student dormitories, temperature measurements were taken of the terminal blocks of electrical equipment such as air conditioners and water heaters to prevent malfunctions when the equipment is restarted after a long period of inactivity.

After the comprehensive inspection was completed, staff from the power supply company held in-depth communications with relevant school administrators, provided detailed feedback on the problems found during the inspection and suggestions for rectification, and assisted the school in formulating an electricity guarantee plan. They also predicted the possible load fluctuations caused by the centralized activation of teaching equipment and air conditioners after the semester starts, and conducted advance patrol inspections of the power lines around the school, laying a solid foundation for electricity guarantee during the school opening period.

Up to now, electricity inspections for key primary and secondary schools in the jurisdiction have been completed, with 8 hidden hazards such as aging lines and poor switch contact detected and rectified. In the next step, the company will continue to strengthen the inspection of power supply lines around campuses and open a “green channel” for electricity services during the school opening season, ensuring safe and stable electricity use on campus in the new semester and creating a sound electricity environment for teachers and students.
