Xuchang, Henan: Multiple Measures to Strengthen the Defense Line for Summer Power Supply Guarantee

On August 18, the Power Supply Company of Xuchang, Henan organized distribution operation and maintenance personnel to conduct special inspections on heavy-load lines and outgoing cables within the administrative area of Changge. Infrared thermometers and UAV inspection equipment were fully deployed to promptly eliminate potential safety hazards, ensuring the safe and stable operation of power grid equipment.

During this year’s summer period, the electricity load in Changge area increased by 22.94% compared with the same period last year. Multiple rounds of high-temperature weather, coupled with the peak electricity consumption of industrial production and residents’ daily life, have led to continuous heavy overload of some lines, putting the power grid equipment under severe test. To effectively address the problem of line overload and ensure the safe and stable supply of electricity, Xuchang Power Supply Company has taken multiple measures and achieved inter-departmental collaboration, establishing a coordinated mechanism of “dispatching overall planning, operation and inspection tackling, marketing services, and Party building support” to accelerate the summer power supply guarantee work.

Xuchang Power Supply Company has accurately identified the root causes of problems. For the overloaded lines that have emerged since the start of summer, it has conducted in-depth analysis of the load characteristics and structural bottlenecks of each line, formulated short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures by category, and clarified the time nodes, responsible departments, and persons in charge for each measure, forming a work pattern of “list-based management and project-based promotion”. The company has strengthened real-time monitoring, smoothed the linkage mechanism, and implemented 24-hour dynamic monitoring of overloaded lines; focused on the management of overloaded equipment, increased the frequency of special inspections, conducted daily infrared temperature measurements on heavy-load lines, and promptly eliminated defects when abnormalities are found. At the same time, it has promoted the construction of key interconnection projects, accelerated the progress of line interconnection projects, and ensured that load transfer conditions are met by the end of the year to “reduce the burden” on overloaded lines.

In the meantime, the company has made dual efforts in load management and user services. On one hand, it has strictly standardized the approval of access plans for large users, and conducted load-carrying capacity assessments for new electricity consumption applications to avoid increasing the burden on the power grid. On the other hand, it has promoted “peak-shifting electricity consumption guidance” for high-energy-consuming enterprises, guided enterprises to adjust production time periods through policy promotion, and smoothed user feedback channels to ensure that electricity demands are responded to in a timely manner.
