Recently, with the rising temperature, Longnan city has entered a state of “high temperature roasting”, the power load has risen rapidly, and the substation equipment has ushered in a critical stage of peak summer. In order to ensure the stability of power supply and meet users’ electricity demand, on July 27th, the Substation Operation and Inspection Center of State Grid Longnan Power Supply Company actively promoted innovative measures, introduced a number of high-tech means, comprehensively improved the power grid operation and maintenance capacity, and provided solid scientific and technological support for the peak summer work.

In this peak summer work, the intelligent inspection system has played the role of “wisdom center” for equipment inspection. According to the preset inspection plan, the system will automatically dispatch the high-definition camera to regularly inspect and measure the temperature of the whole station equipment from multiple angles and with high precision, and send the high-definition images and infrared maps collected by the camera back to the system in real time. After image identification and defect analysis by artificial intelligence and big data analysis technology, a comprehensive inspection report including the equipment name, equipment status, abnormal warning and collected images will be automatically generated, so that the operation and maintenance personnel can quickly grasp the health status of the equipment and effectively improve the operation and maintenance efficiency of the power grid.
In addition, in the 330 kV gold-basking substation, inspection robots shuttle through various equipment areas, just like tireless “steel guards”, guarding equipment safety all day. These robots are equipped with advanced sensors, high-definition cameras and infrared thermal imagers, which can independently complete all-round inspection tasks of equipment. They can not only move flexibly in the complex substation environment, accurately locate the equipment position, but also carefully detect the appearance, temperature and sound of the equipment. The use of inspection robot increases the frequency of equipment inspection from 2 times to 8 times a day, which greatly improves the probability of hidden danger discovery and reduces the working pressure of operation and maintenance personnel in high temperature weather in summer.
In the 330 kV Wudu substation equipment area, the company’s operation and maintenance personnel Zhai Shiyong and Zhang Kai are skillfully operating drones to carry out equipment inspection. With the advantages of flexibility and efficiency, the UAV has become an “airborne soldier” in inspection operations. With the help of flying at high altitude, UAV can accurately reach the top of lightning rod, insulator string and GIS equipment. These places are quite high for 330 kV equipment, and it is difficult for operation and maintenance personnel to observe with naked eyes, while UAV can easily cover and comprehensively inspect substation equipment, which greatly improves the quality of operation and maintenance inspection.
