Full Coverage Achieved for Remote Intelligent Inspection of All Switch Stations

On April 9, at the 10kV Guzhi switch station operated by State Grid Jiyuan Power Supply Company, distribution operation and maintenance personnel Ge Zhanfu completed the entire inspection task in just 20 minutes using the i-State Grid distribution status monitoring mini-app on his mobile phone.

“In the past, inspecting a single switch station would take up to two hours, not including travel time. Now, with remote mobile operations, work efficiency has improved significantly, and potential data deviations caused by manual inspection are also avoided,” said Ge Zhanfu.

At present, all 35 10kV switch stations under State Grid Jiyuan Power Supply Company have adopted the remote intelligent inspection model, making it the first among the 18 municipal power supply companies in the province to achieve full coverage of intelligent inspection for all 10kV switch stations.

In March, focusing on the development of a new-type distribution system, the company actively launched the province’s first city-level demonstration project for full coverage of remote intelligent inspection of switch stations. During implementation,  considering factors such as information security, the company leveraged a smart IoT system to upgrade station auxiliary intelligence and AI-based visual devices. Monitoring data—including contact temperature, partial discharge of switchgear, and other sensor and camera information—was integrated into the intranet. Real-time operation status monitoring and second-level SMS alert notifications were achieved via both PC and i-State Grid mobile platforms.

By deploying intelligent auxiliary station gateways and AI visual gateways, the company unified the integration of telemetry, remote signaling, image maps, still images, video streams, and other data into the IoT management platform and unified video platform. Through the data channels of the IoT management platform, remote control of station lighting, water pumps, fans, air conditioners, and other equipment was realized, significantly reducing the need for manual intervention while ensuring information security, resulting in an efficiency increase of over 200%.

During this period, the company also deepened the cloud-collaborative application of intelligent inspection for switch stations, enabling minute-level parsing, storage, display, and analysis of data. For high-cost devices such as partial discharge monitors that are difficult to deploy on a large scale, the company independently carried out sensor identity authentication and data acquisition and transmission through technical means, ensuring comprehensive and accurate equipment monitoring.

Over the past month, State Grid Jiyuan Power Supply Company has completed two full rounds of inspection of all switch stations using the intelligent inspection model, accurately addressing nine safety hazards such as water leakage, contact overheating, and partial discharge based on inspection results.
