State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company: Sufficient Power Supply Boosts Seedling Cultivation Efficiency

Spring is the prime season for farming, and agricultural activities are in full swing. On March 12, at the Yanling County Liangxin Agriculture Pepper Breeding Base in Nanwu Town, Henan Province, more than ten workers were seizing the moment, diligently transplanting, covering soil, and watering 200,000 pepper seedlings in the greenhouse.

Outside the greenhouse, staff from State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company were meticulously inspecting the power distribution boxes, cables, switches, and sockets to eliminate potential electrical hazards in a timely manner. “The pepper seedlings we cultivated last week have all sprouted today!” said Zhang Genxi, head of Liangxin Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., unable to hide his excitement.

Founded in 2012, Yanling County Liangxin Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. is a township enterprise integrating seedling cultivation, planting, and pepper processing. The company’s “Yanjiao Red” pepper variety is highly favored by farmers and merchants due to its attractive fruit shape, high yield, strong disease resistance, and excellent branching ability. It has been widely planted across Yanling County each year, attracting buyers from neighboring cities and counties.

“As long as we maintain proper temperature, humidity, and ventilation during the seedling stage, the survival rate can exceed 96%,” Zhang Genxi explained. Electricity is essential for regulating temperature, humidity, and ventilation in the greenhouse, making a stable power supply critical. To ensure reliable electricity supply, State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company has implemented a “one-on-one” service mechanism, assigning dedicated service personnel for regular visits to understand enterprises’ electricity needs. Technicians conduct comprehensive “health checks” on greenhouse power lines and electrical equipment, swiftly addressing any power supply issues. Furthermore, considering the specific requirements of rural specialty farming and greenhouse-based agriculture, the company has intensified efforts to upgrade the rural power grid, continuously optimizing its structure. By adding new distribution substations and constructing or upgrading power supply lines, the company has shortened power supply distances and significantly improved supply capacity and quality, ensuring a robust power infrastructure for local specialty industries. Since the beginning of the year, State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company has proactively conducted 62 visits to specialty farms, resolving 28 power supply issues, identifying and eliminating 32 potential safety hazards, and distributing over 2,000 safety electricity usage brochures.
