Nanyang, Henan: Ensuring “Full Power” for Winter Wheat Irrigation
By mid-January, the temperature in the Tongbai region of Nanyang, Henan Province, has dropped significantly, accompanied by prolonged dry and rainless weather. This period marked a critical period for winter irrigation of wheat. State Grid Tongbai County Power Supply Company has quickly responded by formulating a special action plan to ensure power supply for agricultural irrigation during winter. The plan emphasized clear accountability at all levels, ensuring that farmland irrigation wells were electrified and operational, guaranteeing sufficient and stable power for irrigation, and providing high-quality service to local farmers.
The company has set up a green channel for irrigation-related power services, simplifying the expansion and installation process for new connections. Convenient measures such as QR code-based applications, facial recognition services, and one-document processing have been introduced. They have provided seamless service for the electrification of drainage stations, communal water pumps, and well-powered facilities, further bolstered by dedicated WeChat service groups for seamless communication. To further strengthen support, 16 dedicated service teams have been deployed to the fields. They utilized advanced tools such as infrared thermography, partial discharge detection, live-line maintenance and other methods to identify and eliminate equipment hazards promptly. Specialized technicians were also assigned to engage “one-on-one” with water user cooperatives and village committees, collaborating on equipment inspections and fault repairs.
Moreover, the company has made full use of digital technology to continuously monitor the voltage and power consumption across all irrigation well transformers, ensuring accurate load forecasting and real-time monitoring. This enabled the scientific management of grid operations to meet precise electricity supply for irrigation demands.
To date, the company’s service teams have completed on-site inspections for 249 farmland wells, eliminated seven safety hazards in the power supply, and rectified 43 electrical risks. They have also completed 21 new irrigation connections and carried out winter irrigation safety and electricity usage promotions for more than 1,000 people. Moving forward, the company remains committed to powering local agricultural production with “full power” capacity, demonstrating its dedication to fulfilling the responsibilities of a state-owned enterprise with tangible actions.
