State Grid Shangqiu Powers Through the Cold for a Warm Winter
“Freezing!!” Amidst a recent cold snap which brought plummeting temperatures in Shangqiu, Henan, the dedicated crews of State Grid Shangqiu Power Supply Company are braving the frigid conditions to keep the lights on and homes warm this winter.

As early winter set in, Sui County experienced a significant drop in temperatures. In response, State Grid Shangqiu Power Supply Company mobilized its personnel to confront the cold, conducting special inspections and maintenance of power grid equipment to ensure that millions of households remain powered.
On the early morning of 12th December, along Jianshe Fourth Road in Sui County, a three-person crew from State Grid Shangqiu Power Supply Company used a drone to inspect 10 kV power lines, ensuring the grid’s stable operation during the cold snap.

“In recent years, the adoption of advanced drone-based technology for three-dimensional inspections has significantly enhanced our efficiency,” explained Tong Shuai, Operations and Maintenance Team Leader. “It eliminates blind spots, greatly increases precision, and makes inspections safer, more efficient, and less labor-intensive.”
With overnight temperatures in Sui County predicted to continue dropping from December 13th to 18th, and anticipating increased electricity demand for residential heating, State Grid Shangqiu will activate its ice and snow emergency response plan. Staff will conduct comprehensive and targeted inspections of substations, and personnel will be stationed along power lines in ice-prone areas. Through foot patrols, remote video monitoring, and drone inspections, the company will gather comprehensive icing data, monitor lines around the clock, and promptly address any grid emergencies to ensure residents stay warm throughout the winter.
