State Grid Hebi Power Supply Company: Enhancing Line Patrols in Preparation for the Winter Peak Demand
“Be sure to thoroughly inspect the conductor connection points for any signs of overheating,” emphasized Hebi Power Supply Company staff on 6th December. Taking into account the load characteristics of early winter, they organized a night-time heavy load patrol of the 10kV Cheng#20 Guanbei line, ensuring timely monitoring of the line’s operation and early detection and resolution of potential hazards.
To safeguard the safe and stable operation of transmission lines during the peak winter season, State Grid Hebi Power Supply Company has implemented a tiered preventative maintenance program. Teams meticulously reviewed line infrastructure based on a “1000-meter general survey, 500-meter preventative measures, and 300-meter strict control” protocol. This involved cross-referencing existing troubleshooting records and individual case files (“one issue, one file”) to pinpoint locations susceptible to floating objects. Factors such as pole numbers, terrain, and area were documented to precisely assess the risk, enabling proactive management based on weather forecasts. Distribution line management and troubleshooting efforts were also being reinforced. Patrols and inspections have been intensified, adhering to a “concurrent identification and remediation” approach. This included comprehensive checks for fire hazards along distribution lines and within forested areas. To expedite hazard mitigation, drones equipped with infrared cameras conducted special patrols along 12 lines traversing forested regions across the city, minimizing the risk of grid incidents caused by forest and grassland fires or vice-versa.
State Grid Hebi has also strengthened its emergency response capabilities by coordinating resources such as seven emergency power generators and one load transfer vehicle. In the event of sudden faults and power outages, the company would prioritize restoring power to essential services and residential customers, following a “power first, repair later” principle.
Furthermore, the company is optimizing grid operations, ensuring consistent power generation from various sources, and implementing robust risk management strategies to guarantee a stable and reliable supply of electricity throughout Hebi during the winter months. (By Sang Ping)
