Zhoukou Power Supply Company Steps Up Preparations for Winter Peak Demand
As winter’s chill approaches and cold fronts begin to roll in, Zhoukou Power Supply Company is gearing up to meet the anticipated surge in electricity demand. On 7th November, the company’s Materials Supply Centre undertook a comprehensive inspection of the storage operations at State Grid Huangfan District Power Supply Company to ensure that all material supplies are adequate and ready for immediate deployment.
The Materials Supply Centre is focused on practical measures, implementing a strict accountability system for safety while coordinating the supply of various resources. Enhanced safety controls have been put in place to ensure the security of stored items. The team has conducted a comprehensive inventory check, with each item reviewed and verified to ensure accuracy. Special attention was paid to checking the pressure levels, expiration dates, and physical condition of portable fire extinguishers to ensure that an adequate variety and quantity are available without any omissions. The inspection also examined the storage of flammable and explosive materials, confirming their compliance with designated hazardous areas and appropriate registration for dangerous goods. Moreover, the company inspected areas designated for storing waste materials, enforcing guidelines that require different types of waste to be stored separately and equipped with the necessary fire safety infrastructure. Fire safety equipment was tested to confirm that all systems are functioning properly. Additionally, staff conducted safety inspections across both indoor warehouses and outdoor storage yards, ensuring that materials such as fittings and hardware were stored orderly and securely. Timely measures were taken to shield materials from freezing and damp conditions to avoid damage.
On 9th November, the Materials Supply Centre undertook a thorough inspection of the South Ring Road warehouse at State Grid Xiangcheng Power Supply Company. The focus of this meticulous review was on fire safety, equipment integrity, and the optimal storage of materials. The inspection team meticulously assessed the fire safety installations within the warehouse, ensuring that fire extinguishers were complete, compliant, and effectively operational, and verified that the water pressure of fire hydrants met the required standards, ensuring that all firefighting equipment was fully functional and effective. Warehouse staff were instructed to be well-acquainted with the precise locations and operation of firefighting gear to prevent potential hazards. Furthermore, emergency exits and exit routes were inspected to ensure unobstructed access. Additionally, a thorough examination of electrical lines and equipment was also performed, urging improved management of fire sources and power supplies to eliminate any safety risks. Safety checks were also conducted on lifting equipment and unloading tools, alongside a close assessment of the storage environment, including temperature, humidity, and ventilation to guarantee optimal storage settings. The inventory was verified for accuracy against the physical stock, and the inspection included a review of shift scheduling and patrol logs to confirm that all operational protocols are being effectively implemented.
Moving forward, Zhoukou Power Supply Company will continue to enforce stringent management of its material warehouses. Efforts to identify and mitigate potential storage hazards will be intensified within storage areas, prioritising safety in production and enhancing material management standards to ensure the timely and secure supply of resources as the company prepares for the winter peak demand for electricity.
