State Grid Shangqiu: “Full Power” Energizing High-Standard Farmland Development

Recently, State Grid Shangqiu Power Supply Company has joined forces with the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau to prepare materials and construction teams for the upcoming 2024 high-standard farmland well-powering infrastructure project, ensuring a reliable power supply for local agricultural irrigation needs.

The construction of high-standard farmland is a national strategic initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural efficiency and fortifying food security. To ensure the successful implementation of this project, Shangqiu Ningling County Power Supply Company has fortified its leadership frameworks, bolstered government-enterprise collaboration, and closely tracked the planning and construction of high-standard farmlands. By concentrating on resolving project bottlenecks, key challenges, and obstacles, they have accelerated the advancement of power infrastructure projects. The company has successfully secured funding of 10.874 million yuan and planned the construction of 72 new distribution transformer substations along with the inauguration of 1,726 new wells. To date, 37 new substations have been completed, with the remaining 35 scheduled for completion by the end of December. Once completed, these substations will fulfill the electricity demands for irrigating 120,000 mu (approximately 8,000 hectares) of high-standard farmland.

Concurrent with infrastructure expansion, Ningling County Power Supply Company is establishing a comprehensive quality supervision system to ensure each substation adheres to the State Grid’s standards and specifications for high-standard farmland substation construction, which not only guarantees the quality of the projects but also enhances post-construction maintenance. The company also underscores the importance of coherent communication and collaboration with the water management organization, and clarifies the responsibilities for managing power facilities and fully guarantees the electricity supply for farmland irrigation, thereby ensuring stable crop yields and increased incomes for farmers.
