讲给布林肯的这句话，外交部与外媒翻译不一样_风闻

6月19日下午，主席会见美国国务卿，引全球关注。外媒普遍转引这几句话：

“中国尊重美国的利益，不会去挑战和取代美国。同样，美国也要尊重中国，不要损害中国的正当权益。任何一方都不能按照自己的意愿塑造对方，更不能剥夺对方正当发展权利。”（参见新华社）

但是，在第三句话的翻译上，外媒与外交部出现明显“分歧”。

外交部译法：

Neither side shoul****d try to shape the other side by its own will, still less deprive the other side of its legitimate right to development. （外交部官网）

《华盛顿邮报》《金融时报》等多家主流外媒这样翻译：

Neither party canshape the other according to its own wishes, let alone deprive the other of its legitimate right to development.

两种译法，两种语气（tone），关键区别在情态动词的使用（should vs can）。

根据外交部译法，“不能…更不能…”即“不应该…更不应该…”。“should”体现主观要求与价值判断，强调“按照自己的意愿塑造对方”与“剥夺对方正当发展权利”的非正义性，突出主观态度上的“不接受”。

外媒普遍照字面把“不能”译成“Neither … can”，淡化了主观上的劝诫，侧重“ability”或者“possibility”，更像是在陈述一种事实：it’s not possible for any side to shape the other.

情态动词关乎讲话语气，在外交语境下，情态动词的使用尤其须仔细斟酌。外交部译法在语义和语气上更忠实于原文。
